A common complaint I hear from laptop users is that the sound ability on nearly every model fails to accomplish to expectations. Some get around this question by using headphones, though headphones are useless in instances where you want to broadcast sound (for movies, to play music, etc.) You could hook your laptop up to a larger sound system, but this has the drawback of only being feasibly beneficial in one location (where the sound system is set up,) as few want to carry around a full array of sound equipment. The Logitech Z205 seeks to offer a compromise in the power of a larger speaker set with a small and very manageable form factor.

The Z205 clips onto the top of a laptop and connects via Usb, eliminating the need for power cables or audio inputs. Aside from using rubber clips to associate to the laptop (a very beneficial feature, as this prevents damage to the laptop itself,) the Z205 maintains a slim profile, meaning the linked laptop won't suddenly lose its aesthetic. For its size, the Z205 offers an impressive sound profile, and even somewhat manages to replicate bass, though some may be put off by the "tinny" sound generated at loud volume levels.

Logitech

Overall, the Z205 performs about what you'd expect given the price. It's hard to find fault with the set given how well it does what it set out to do as a product, though it doesn't do much to set itself apart as a vastly superior stock when compared to some of Logitech's other products, particularly their larger speaker sets. If you're in the store for a laptop speaker replacement, the Z205 is probably the best you'll find, and at a price that won't bother most consumers.
