The first thing I'd like you to do is open your printer. That's right. If you're near your printer, I want you to open the top of it so that you can see inside where the actual printing takes place. You'll know why in a moment.

Inside your printer, you'll see that there is a printhead carriage that does the actual 'printing'. Hp 88 printer cartridges and printheads are separate. There are ink tubes that join together the two and this is the focus of this article.

These ink tubes include approximately 5ml of ink and the printheads include about 9ml of ink. These numbers are Per Color of ink in your printer. So, this is what typically happens...

You catch a great deal on some compatible cartridges online and you install them into your printer. You print about 10 or so pages and you're indubitably impressed with the print quality. Wow! These cartridges print just like the primary Hp inks.

Hold on to your horses.

In this scenario, when you go from the primary Hp 88 inks to Hp 88 compatibles, you are not indubitably going to see the ink from the compatible cartridges until you have printed several, and in some cases, hundreds of pages. This leaves you with a very misleading impression of the compatible cartridges and when you have problems with your printer days, weeks, months later - you may not even perceive that it was the compatible cartridges that caused the problem.
