Printers - Would a Laser Printer Be best remarkable to Your Requirements at Home?

Adoption rates of printers for home use have risen sharply over the past few years as the ever swift advancement of technology has seen printers for the end-user go from merely being able to print Ascii characters (text) to being capable of spitting out full-colour glossy photographs, t-shirt labels and Cd covers, etc.

However, the most tasteless type of home-use printer until now - the trusty ink-jet - has its drawbacks. Namely, the great ability images these printers are able to produce, coupled with their widening array of uses means that the lives of their relatively modest-sized ink cartridges are somewhat brief. On top of that, the cartridges are not - and never have been - cheap to purchase, nor are they surely (if at all, in some cases) refillable.

Indeed, laser printers have all the time been the beloved selection of printer for use in the corporate environment, schools and anywhere where print volume is somewhat high. However, the drawback of laser printers was that traditionally they were only good for printing in black and white text - and in exceptional cases, very low-resolution monotone images. For good ability colour images, the ink-jet was the only real solution.

As with all technology however, advancement is fast and costs come down rapidly. What has resulted is a wide range of laser printers now on the store which are capable of printing very good ability images both in black and white and in colour, with image ability being practically on par with that of a good ink-jet printer.

Although not as cheap to buy, their prestige as a hardier workhorse means the life of a laser printer is likely to exceed that of an ink-jet, and the consumables (namely the toner) will most certainly last longer than in an ink-jet.

Toner cartridges for any laser printer are still in most cases not quite as cheap to buy as ink-jet cartridges, but when you think that they will last many times longer and can often be refilled many times more without loss of print quality, you are most certainly saving money in the long run.

Laser printers for medium-to-heavy use at home are for some imagine still not a widely carefully option, but when factoring in all the pros and cons it is clear to see that the laser printer wins out, particularly in terms of being a lighter burden on your wallet in the long run.
