For those of you who do not know, optic are the Cd and Dvd drives. Most people who have netbooks are forced to buy external drives if they want to be able to watch movies on their minis. When purchasing hard disks you should look for the speed and not focus only on size. Most people just check the size and buy the hard disk right away. Most hard drives spin at a speed of 5,400 rpm. Rpm means revolutions per minute. Hard drives which are used for industrialized systems have a speed of 7,200 rpm.  Hard disks with faster or higher spin rates have great performance however; they also use up more battery power.

Laptops are usually 2.5 inches in size and they range on sizes. New high-end units can even have sizes of up to 1Tb. Most systems have hard disk sizes of 250Gb. Solid state disks are also an additional one thing. They are gently replacing the hard drives in most laptops. Solid state drives use flash memory chips to store data on a computer.

Optical Drives

There are many types of optic disks and these are Dvd, Cd and BluRay drives. Although BluRay is the most recent technology, the commerce standard is still the Dvd. optic drives allow you to watch movies and listen to music using Cds and Dvds. You have two choices if you want to play Cds and Dvds on your laptop. You can whether get a regular laptop with a built-in optic drive or you can buy external optic drives. Most of these drives are linked thru the Usb port.
